A fun and easy to perform block penetration. 3 items are presented to the audience and can be examined, an empty tube, a solid block, and a solid plate that slots into the tube. The block is placed into the tube and shown to move freely in and out of the tube. The block is then locked and trapped into the bottom of the tube using the solid plate. There’s no where for the block to go as the tube is tipped upside down with the block trapped inside it. The magician explains how this is just like Houdini being trapped in one of his impossible escapes. However with a little magic the magician taps the tube down and the block falls freely from the tube seemingly having penetrated right through the solid plate. Designed in an industrial steampunk style, this piece conjures up stories of the old props and escapes Houdini once built.

The tube measures approx. 3cm Wide, 3cm Deep and 10cm High.

I own three great tricks from Retro Rocketeers, I wrote a review of each; I already owned the fourth one from Magic Wagon. I classify “Houdini Cube” with Anthony Yap’s small tricks, which is not a devaluation. It’s just not as expansive with a story to match. You can extend the trick a bit, but the actual effect happens in no time. I have the same trick with a different method and a ball by Thomas Pohle. Both tricks offer crystal-clear penetration. The “Houdini Cubes” are a very good effect, but basically very short. Well, that is also fairly reflected in the price. In any case, this trick, like all others by Anthony Yap, has a convincing effect and a method that works just as excellently. Anthony is a master of magnetic magic. Fortunately for him, we humans are not endowed with sensory powers like migratory birds. In any case, I can again only recommend this effect of my 4th review without reservation, which is almost embarrassing for me.

Another great addition to my Retro Rocketeers collection. I own a similar piece from wood created by Magic Wagon, and again I will continue using this piece, due to the details in the art. I highly recommend this piece from Antony’s collection.
