About The Art

Anthony Yap is an Australian artist with a passion for visual oddities, magical history and the esoteric arts. Influenced by a wide range of genres from mystical ancient cultures to Steampunk & Retrofuturism, Anthony’s creations are highly visual, and usually a lot more then what they seems at first glance.

Art, Magic, History & Innovation – Blending the old with the new

Anthony Yap’s work bridges the gap between tradition and modern technique. With magical roots dating back to the early 1900s, when Anthony’s great-grandfather performed magic in Australia and built his own props and illusions, he now draws inspiration from magical history and ancient cultures.

Combining premium materials—like Australian Jarrah eucalyptus—with both classic and modern techniques, Anthony moves between fine art sketches to refined 3D modelling and VR sculpting, and from fine wood work to professional grade 3D printing. Yet every component be it wood or plastic is always hand-finished—painted, weathered and varnished for a refined, handcrafted touch.

This blend of old and new extends to the magic itself. While Anthony enjoys creating original effects, he also loves exploring the classics and the lineage of ideas that has shaped them over generations. Rather than simply recreating a classic in a new style, he asks how it can be taken a step further—perhaps making it more examinable, cleaner and more visual, viewable from more angles, or even introducing an entirely new method or mechanism. The goal is to create something that adds not only a new look, but a new chapter to the effect’s lineage.

It’s this approach that keeps collectors looking forward to each new release—whether an original creation or a fresh evolution of a classic.
